Plan and prepare for AI Builder in 2025 release wave 1
Important
The 2025 release wave 1 plan covers all new functionalities planned to be delivered to market from April 2025 to September 2025. In this article, you'll find the product overview and what's new and planned for AI Builder.
Overview
The latest AI Builder release enhances content and decision intelligence with advanced capabilities in document processing and prompt engineering that are integrated in Copilot Studio. The document processing agent streamlines content intelligence by providing an out-of-the-box data agent specialized in document processing that allows you to monitor, validate, and control your document processing workflows at scale. Advanced capabilities in the prompt builder give you new tools to extend and customize AI actions. New features include the ability to diversify the sets of inputs and data sources that can be processed using maker prompts. In addition, you can generate diverse content types including documents, going beyond text and json formatting.
Investment areas
Build intelligent solutions with AI capabilities
This area covers all AI model capabilities that are newly available to makers to build more intelligent solutions with AI. It includes expanding the breadth of AI capabilities and the integration surfaces across Microsoft where AI Builder is available.
Extend Copilot capabilities with AI
Copilot makes business users more productive and satisfied at work. But to truly revolutionize the workplace, Copilot needs to operate in the specific context of each enterprise.
You can author topics using natural language to describe what you want your topic to do. Copilot includes conversational responses, which you can use as a starting point for further development. For example, you can add Dataverse data records to your GPT prompts, allowing users to get insights. In addition, you can interact with documents directly from Copilot tools, which gives you the ability to quickly extract key learning points from documents. It also generates new document templates to enhance productivity.
Intelligent document and email processing
Documents can be structured, like invoices, or unstructured like resumes. Automating data extraction from documents can accelerate tedious manual processes and reduce the risk of errors. With AI Builder, an AI model can extract content for you through a controlled process where you specify which fields to capture, and the system is refined with feedback and human review for quality assurance.
As AI capabilities get more advanced, the process of customizing an AI model to understand specific documents gets easier. AI Builder focuses on simplifying the process of setting up intelligent document processing pipelines by making sure the best and latest document processing models from Azure AI are available. It also focuses on limiting the need for model training by using generative AI capabilities.
Prompt builder
Prompt builder is AI Builder's new interface that allows you to build, test, and deploy generative AI prompts for large language models. Prompts are instructions sent to generative AI models to accomplish a task. You can use prompts to perform a wide range of scenarios, like content generation, content classification, insight generation, or information extraction.
Once you create a prompt, you can use it across multiple Power Platform products to invoke generative AI capabilities in every business solution that you are building, whether it's a copilot, an app, a flow, or a Microsoft Dataverse table. Prompts are also designed to be aware of specific solutions and can be triggered with Power Fx expressions. This allows you to reuse and deploy them across your different low-code components.
