Overview of end-to-end scenarios and business processes in Dynamics 365

Dynamics 365 supports many different industries and types of organizations. In this section, we provide an overview of end-to-end scenarios that organizations often look for. Dynamics 365 is a suite of applications that are designed to help organizations meet the organizational goals aligned to various business processes in specific industries.

The term business process covers a wide range of structured, often sequenced, activities or tasks to achieve a predetermined organizational goal. The term can also refer to the cumulative effects of all steps progressing toward a business goal. In our articles, we illustrate this sequence of steps in flowcharts.

Overview

The business process catalog lists end-to-end processes that are commonly used to manage work within an organization or support work within the organization. But most end-to-end scenarios are primary processes within the organization to procure, produce, sell, and drive revenue. The following diagram illustrates the three groups of end-to-end scenarios:

The changes from the August and November 2024 versions of the business process catalog are slowly making their way to the articles here in the guidance hub. We hope to update all diagrams and articles early in 2025.

In the table, the Catalog ID column specifies the unique ID of the end-to-end scenario in the business process catalog. We use this ID to list the end-to-end scenarios on the Microsoft Learn site, but we do not use the IDs of the related business process areas, business processes, and patterns.
