Creating a flow may require some testing. Starting this week, you can use example data from connectors to test your flow from within the Microsoft Flow designer. Once you're ready, select the Test button from the top of your screen. In the Test pane, you'll see three options for testing your flow:

Testing experience

  1. Manually trigger the test by doing the action that triggers the flow. For example, you can send yourself a test email. Or, you can insert a row into a table in your database.

  2. Use data from previous runs to perform the test.

  3. New - Let Microsoft Flow trigger the test by using example data that it pulls from the connector. For example, if you use the When a new email arrives trigger, Microsoft Flow automatically gets the most recent email from your inbox and uses that to test your flow. Or, if you use a SQL Server trigger, it will find a row in SQL that matches the query you defined.

Note, however, that not all options are available for all types of triggers. Currently we have four connectors have this capability:

  • Office 365 Outlook
  • SQL Server
  • Gmail
  • Outlook.com
