The 12K Gamerscore Challenge

I was having lunch with my friend Sethward at work the other day, trading Gamerscore exploits over cheeseburgers and Diet Coke, when I dropped a laughable proposal on him. "Bust out 12,000 Gamerscore in a single weekend," I said, "and I'll take you out for a steak dinner. Any restaurant you want." Preposterous you say? Absurd? Redonkulous even? You bet! Of course, then he accepted.

Even now he's poring over forum posts and strategy guides, painstakingly researching his golden path to 12,000 Gamerscore. Can he do it? Is it even possible? Could you? Well, we've got until June 1st to find out. Here are the guidelines to the contest:

  • The contest begins any Friday before June at 5:00 PM and runs until Monday morning 12:01 AM.
  • Sethward must control his own profile at all times.
  • Of course, no "glitching" or "bug exploits" are allowed. Any other Gamerscore tactics are fair game.

I don't see how it could be done, but with Sethward, you never know. The man doesn't know the meaning of the word quit, so if nothing else, when the weekend comes, entertainment shall ensue. What do you all think? Can 12,000 Gamerscore be done?

Their are some really easy achievement games out there.  Avatar, TMNT, King Kong, etc.  So maybe, just maybe.

There's no way. Avatar is the only game I know of where you can get 1000 in 20 seconds. Good luck!

Nevermind, just saw his gamercard and he has a lot of the easy games.  So I will probably have to go with no. :(

If you have nothing to do all weekend but play games and have games with easy achievements with atleast 50 points each, maybe. That is a BIG maybe! I do not see how this could happen as I have spent up to 7 hours straight on a game before and still did not get 100% of the achievements. If he pulls this off maybe he should get something bigger than a steak dinner!

Yes, I would bet my life that it's possible. Geoff from RvB got 10K in 3.5 days w/o playing really easy-achievement games like Avatar, surf's up or others. It's all a matter of planning, but I promise it could be done in a three-day time period w/ only around 8-12 hours of sleep.

Looks like he already ran through the '06 sports titles and some other easy titles, I don't know if it can happen. Possible, but not after all he's done.

Lots of early 360 launch titles (EA= Easy Achievements) can be milked for the full 1000 in just a few hours, but if he already has those games on his gamercard plus the oh soo generous Avatar, then I would say no. Most games now a days require a little bit more effort gaining gamerscore then just simply simulating 30 years of franchise for an hefty 400gs.  Though if you're desperate, I hear the Hannah Montana game can squeeze out a quick 1000gs.. that is if you're willing to give up your dignity ;)

I could do it, I have well over 50 games and I could possibly milk a lot of gamerscore in a short period of time if I made a new gamertag.

EA and multi xbox and it could be done easily.

It would definitely be possible if you 1, get all the right games together, and 2, haven't already played a lot of the easy ones.

Fresh Gamercard = Easy Task Sethward's Card = Not Possible... Too bad he already padded his card with the easy stuff. :)

Wow I am shocked so many people found their way to this blog. I think it’s great talking about a contest for a friend of someone who works at MS. It got me thinking about the last gamerscore contest MS held for the gamers (you know the people that make it possible for everyone at MS Xbox division to have a job) Was the Old Spice challenge in February 2007 really the only gamerscore contest held by MS? I am sure I am probably wrong and some MS employee will chime in with all the details..

Well, I am at work, so I cannot get to his gamercard at this time, but Gamespot had an article on how to it 9000 gamerscore points in 48 hours. http://www.gamespot.com/features/6171203/index.html?tag=result;title;7

How cool!  If it is done I will definitely be checking out the games he played so I can boost my gamerscore. Now I just need to go rent Hannah Montana....

I think Gears of War 2 is a pretty good game to get achievements in. I have had it for 3 days and have already got 830 Gamerscore.
