Splinter Cell: Conviction--Mark and Target

I know when I feast my eyes on a demo or trailer for the first time, it's hard not to get distracted by all the bells and whistles. If you look more closely though, you can start to wrap your head around some of the gameplay changes on display. Take Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction for example.

The Microsoft Press Briefing highlighted Sam's new Mark and Target system. Before engaging a group of enemies, you can highlight a few targets (how many is dependent on the weapon) before you engage. Then, when you trigger the action, Sam will handle the highlighted actions on his own. If, say, you highlight the light above a group of enemies and then the enemy nearest you, Sam will pop out from behind cover, shatter the light, and so cloak the startled enemies and himself in darkness. Then, he'll whip his pistol around to the pre-selected enemy and drop him instantly with a precise shot.

After that, it's up to you, but with the new Mark and Target gameplay, Sam's first moves are swift, deadly, and in perfect harmony with his status as the deadliest secret agent in gaming.
