Micro-interview with Dan Bunting from Treyarch

Dan Bunting, producer of Call of Duty: World at War was here at Xbox HQ today showing off some goodness (I'll let Denny, Ryan and Major tell you about the goodness) and I got to spend a few minutes with him talking about who he is and how he got into the game industry.

Favorite Movie: Bladerunner
Band to tour with: The Flaming Lips
Book he's reading: Ghost Wars  by Steve Coll
First video game: Pac-Man
College: University of Oklahoma, majored in literature and philosophy with a minor in Spanish. (They haz philosophy in Oklahoma? - I kid!)

After Dan graduated college he headed for Los Angeles with the goal of getting into the game industry. Instead he found a gig as an Associate Producer at FX Networks where he worked for 4 1/2 years. He still wanted to get into games, but didn't know anyone. So he set a goal for himself to network and contact at least 3 game industry people each day. 7 months later he had a job at Treyarch, where he has been for 6 years.

THAT's how you do it kids: Well-rounded education as a foundation and then persistence and determination.
