another introduction!
Okay, the lure of the shirt has pulled me in too... :) Actually, I think I just feel bad for Dave being denied a shirt despite blogging so diligently this past day.
Hi! My name is Jenn and I'm a developer on the messaging team in windows mobile. This is my first year at Microsoft, my first job out of school, and my first time in the pacific northwest... so basically, I'm coming from the point of view of someone who still doesn't know a whole lot about how everything works yet (but at the rate that our team works, it won't take toooo long it seems!).
I think thus far, the biggest change has been adapting to the idea of making a product that is actually distributed worldwide! What would have qualified as a pretty well done project at school would probably be unable to withstand the rigorous testing that our test team is continually doing. Verifying the development work and preventing “regressions” (a term i had never heard used in the software context before -- basically when a new change breaks something that was working before), and generally ensuring that our product work moves *forward*... It's really had a huge impact on the way I approach writing code.
