Developer Division Updates now on Channel 9! (by yag)
A number of months ago, Mairead O'Donovan of my team discussed how we were doing in shipping the first beta of VS 2005. Alex Kipman did the same. At that time, a conversation began in blog comments, emails and community sites about how we could best share the process of shipping a product as ambitious as Visual Studio 2005. Well, Channel 9 has just opened a Developer Division Update site that gives some of that information. A key paragraph from one posting already there:
Why do this?
Transparency. If you’ve followed the Microsoft bloggers over at MSDN for any length of time you probably noticed bits and pieces of our project status leaking out from time to time . By design the MSDN Product Feedback Center also gives you a good picture of our bug counts (at least the ones you file). These tidbits are great, but the data lacks the context of the bigger picture and some education that might be required to interpret the meaning. Here we intend to provide the bigger picture and additional context. Through this we intend open the door for more interesting conversations between our development teams and customers.
I'm really excited about this new set of information we're making available. Check it out and let us know what you think!
