MetroPCS
MetroPCS has just gone live with their new store locator featuring Microsoft Virtual Earth. Your basic store locator with a few attributions in which you can filter your search on. Enter any address, postal code or point of interest (ie. Statue of Liberty) and you get a map centered on the location with the nearest MetroPCS providers mapped out within 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 50 miles. They included a filter search which allows users to select 24-Hour Payment Locations, Gift Card Accepted, Payment Center, Unlock Phone Service and/or Repair/Exchange Phones in order to better find the service they're looking for near them. They highlight the map with a star for the user's entered location; orange pushpins for MetroPCS store locations; and, gray pushpins for MetroPCS Authorized Dealers. I couldn't find a MetroSelect Dealer, so not sure what that is. For any given point you can see additional details about the location such as the address, services offered, phone number and hours. Plus, you can get driving directions to any location right in the enhanced rollover.
Store locators are pretty straightforward, but provide a highly useful service. If you're looking to move, the Virtual Earth API is very straightforward but if you don't have the bandwidth or resources to get the job done we have a partner community that is extremely well versed in Virtual Earth and building out locator applications - I mean, seriously it's a template. They can get this done quickly saving you the heartburn of dealing with it and embarrassment of sharing your brand with a relic mapping service. For more info send email to the Virtual Earth Licensing alias.
