Microsoft and Itron Webcast on Meter Data Management Benchmarking Results - May 3, 2011
This guest post is written by Microsoft's David Barret.
As we head down the path towards the Smart Energy Ecosystem with our utilities customers, there are many benefits that the smart grid offers the industry, customers, and society at large. In delivering on the promise of the smart grid, utilities will generate, process, and manage exponentially increasing amounts of data compared to the past. To address that challenge, Microsoft is working closely with our partner Itron to help our customers optimize the performance of Itron’s Enterprise Edition (IEE) Meter Data Management (MDM) application with Microsoft’s SQL Server database for mission critical solutions.
Microsoft and Itron have recently completed high-volume benchmarking testing on scalability, efficiency, and performance of our joint technology solutions. We invite you to join us on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 11 AM EST, 8 AM PST for "Delivering Mission Critical Solutions for Utilities”, a free webcast sponsored by Energy Central to learn about the results of the benchmarking testing and best practices of IEE MDM and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 on Windows Server 2008 R2. Registration is available here.
Featured speakers on the webcast will be:
• Christopher Perdue, Vice President, Sierra Energy Group
• Jon C. Arnold, Managing Director, Worldwide Power and Utilities, Microsoft Corporation
• Bruce Angelis, Itron Managing Director, Software Solutions and Technology Strategy
In addition to the results of the benchmarking, Christopher, Jon, and Bruce will share industry insights related to opportunities with the smart grid and the strategy and vision of Meter Data Management’s impact on strategic IT initiatives from the partnership of the two companies. This webcast event will give you the opportunity to learn how the partnership between Itron and Microsoft is bringing game changing technology solutions to the industry.
The webcast will also be available on demand from the Microsoft Power & Utilities industry website shortly following the live event.
