SQL MCM Profile: David Reed
As I hinted at in my last post, I’m going to start sharing profiles about our existing SQL MCM community members that I haven’t yet blogged about. I feel like this will be good information for those of you interested in pursuing SQL MCM certification, allowing you to see the varying backgrounds of our existing SQL MCM community members.
And so, without further ado, meet David Reed:
David Reed , Principal Software Developer, Microsoft. David has been working with computers and writing software for 20 years, and has improved his database-related skills a lot since his first contract gig developing an Access database back in the stone ages. David has worn many hats in his career, including several at Microsoft in the past five years: Senior Consultant (SQL/BI), Senior Program Manager, Senior Service Engineer and Principal Software Developer. He will not be offended if you refer to him as a data modeling snob, and would love to explain why you should refine your data model to the 5NF first before you degrade its purity for perfectly valid performance reasons (if you have several hours to listen). You will also lose several hours if you let him start talking about automated unit testing all aspects of a software development project, including the database.
More profiles to come over the next few weeks!
