Senior Premier Field Engineer and now SQL Microsoft Certified Master

A new week and a new SQL MCM announce:

Derek Wilson, Senior Premier Field Engineer, Microsoft. Derek has over a decade of experience managing relational database systems. He is currently a transactional Premier Field Engineer (PFE) who provides onsite support for Microsoft Premier customers. Derek travels around the U.S. (and occasionally the world) to resolve some of the most technically and politically challenging customer issues. Derek’s areas of technical expertise include SQL Server engine performance tuning, troubleshooting, and virtualization (Hyper-V specifically, but has experience with VMware environments as well).

I met Derek back in 2009 and he was one of those guys with significant technical talent – but totally humble about it. With that combination of traits, it isn’t a surprise that customers love working with him. We’re fortunate to have him in the SQL MCM community now.

What is happening with OCS, Sharepoint and Exchange? I haven't seen any announcement of new MCM for other technology than SQL since November.

Nothing that we are ready to announce publically at this time. The SQL MCM program was changed based on several factors, not the least of which was feedback from the SQL community (partners and customers).  The goal isn’t to create a one-size-fits-all format for each program, but rather to structure the programs based on what works for each technical community.
