Happy Birthday IAPP!
The International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) turns ten years old today. In conjunction with the tenth anniversary, the IAPP has released a white paper on the future of the privacy profession, entitled “A Call for Agility: The Next Generation Privacy Professional”. This paper is a ‘must-read’ for all privacy professionals. A celebration event is being held this afternoon at the National Press Club in Washington, DC and the event is being simulcast live online.
Microsoft is proud to have been heavily involved in the IAPP since it began a decade ago. We probably have more privacy professionals employed than any organization (we had over 150 IAPP members at last count) so we see great benefit in a vibrant association to foster the profession – and the IAPP is that association. We have been the Platinum Sponsor of the main annual conference and are again at this year’s Global Privacy Summit. We, along with Hewlett Packard, were founding sponsors of the IAPP Certification program and I have been honored to serve on the certification board since its beginning. Microsoft’s Peter Cullen served on the Board of Directors for five years and I have been recently been honored to be appointed to the Board.
So Happy Birthday IAPP! Microsoft celebrates with you and looks forward to the next decade of development for the IAPP and the privacy profession.
