Windows 8 store hits 100,000 apps in just over eight months
On July 2nd, 2013 a tweet from @windevs confirmed that Windows 8 store has hit 100,000 apps. If we look back it yields that it roughly took 8 months since Windows 8 launch on 26th October, 2012.

There had been a lot of speculation and rumors about success and developer’s interest in Windows 8 lately and given the milestone above, I want to make a fair comparison of Windows 8 reaching this milestone vs. other similar and competitive platforms,
Store to hit 100,000 apps | Approximate time to reach 100,000 apps |
Windows 8 | 8 months |
Windows Phone | 18 months |
App Store with iPad specific apps | 14 months |
Android | 18 months |
There are strong figures and should speak for themselves but with the comparison in place I only want to stress that there is a tremendous opportunity waiting for developers in the horizon of Windows 8 as we anticipate the momentum will see an uplift in months ahead.
