There are no differences between the binaries in the patch and full web download located at: https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0c1b0a88-59e2-4eba-a70e-4cd851c5fcc4&displaylang=en.  The difference is in the size of the download, the patch contains only the changed binaries, its smaller but needs the original .NET Compact Framework to be installed.  The patch also includes an End User License agreement in the patch extends Visual Studio 2005 rights to include the new .NET Compact Framework v2 SP1.  If you have installed the first web download, you have Visual Stutio 2005 installed and you want to accept the new license you will need to:

  1. Go to Add \ Remove programs.
  2. Remove Microsoft .NET Compact Framework SP1
  3. From your Visual Studio 2005 CD or DVD install the original NETCF v2 from \vs\wcu\NetCF\netcfsetupv2.msi
  4. Install the patch from https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7befd787-9b5e-40c6-8d10-d3a43e5856b2&displaylang=en

This patch will make its way to Microsoft Update in the next few months.   I will announce the patch on Microsoft Update on this BLOG.
