What are the “Enterprise Products” available through Open Value Subscription?
With the new Open Value Subscription program, one of the requirements is that the initial Agreement order be for at least one of the Enterprise products on a company-wide basis. Plus, for those of you interested in taking advantage of the Up-to-date discount I talk about in my Yes, you heard right… 50%* off the first year payment! post, it is the Enterprise products that offer the up-to-date discount if your client has qualifying licenses already when stating a new Open Value Subscription Agreement. One of the questions I have received is, “What are the ‘Enterprise Products’ offered through Open Value?” To answer this question, here is the list:
Enterprise products:
- Office Professional Plus
- Office Small Business
- Office Enterprise (coming to OVS in October, 2008)
- Windows
Vista Business7 Professional Upgrade - SBS CAL
- Essential Business Server (EBS) CAL (coming in November, 2008)
- Core CAL (Suite of CALs consisting of: a Windows Server CAL, an Exchange Server CAL, an Office SharePoint Server CAL, and a Systems Management Server CAL)
- Small Business Desktop (Suite consisting of licenses for: Office Small Business, SBS CAL, and Windows Vista Business Upgrade)
- Desktop Professional (Suite consisting of licenses for: Office Professional Plus, Core CAL, and Windows Vista Business Upgrade)
This means that your initial Open Value Subscription Agreement MUST include at least one of the items listed above on a company-wide basis. One other thing to note on Enterprise products in Open Value Subscription, the Enterprise products can ONLY be ordered on a company-wide basis. This means you cannot order any of the Enterprise products listed above for only some of the computers in your company, you must order them on a company-wide basis (one for each computer in the company).

UPDATE: As of October, 2008, platform options (such as the Small Business Desktop Advantage) are now handled through the “Build Your Own Platform” model. Here is the post that explains this new option for you.
