image We are rolling out a Windows 7 Loadfest for Partners in 50 cities across the US, and here is your opportunity to participate! In addition, if you attend Microsoft’s Windows 7 partner loadfest events, you will receive a FREE copy of the full product before general availability! At these Partners loadfests, you will get Windows® 7 installed onto your PC, which must meet the minimum configuration listed below, learn about the key improvements that have been made from the user perspective and the great new features Windows 7 has, to better manage your computers in the corporate environment. Also, walk away with presentations on the Windows 7 business value as well as all the materials needed to host your very own Windows 7 Launch event for your company or customers.

System Requirements:
Make sure your desktop or laptop meets these minimum requirements:

  • 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor
  • 1 GB of system memory
  • 16 GB of available disk space
  • Support for DirectX 9 graphics with 128 MB memory (to enable the Aero theme)
  • DVD-R/W Drive

Important Notes:

  1. The system WILL BE WIPED, (unless you use virtualization), so do NOT bring systems that have any data on them that you wish to keep.
  2. If you decide to bring a Desktop Computer please review the following:
    a. We will NOT be providing monitors, keyboards, mice, or any associated cables, including power cables, so make sure you bring the required hardware to run your system.
    b. Get there early as you will likely need a little more time to setup than other users.
    c. We will NOT have any hand trucks or carts to help you bring equipment in so, please come prepared.
  3. Make sure your test computer has a wireless card that works with Windows Vista/Windows 7.
  4. There will be 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7 DVDs available*. (while supplies last)
  5. Refreshments and snacks will be provide

NOTE: Due to high demand, Partners are limited to 2 seats per company per city, so register today!

    I registered for the chicago event: You mentioned "partners are limited to 2 seats per company per city." Can I safely assume that means if two people from my company come, we can load windows 7 onto 2 laptops? thanks!

    @ Dave M - Dave, if you attended the event, you would have received your copies of Windows 7.  Each copy can be loaded on one machine.  So to directly answer your question, no, registering for the event alone does not give you any installation or licensing rights for Windows 7 on any devices.  You would need to actually receive the Windows 7 license itself in order to be able to install it on any devices.

    Is the license OEM or can I install it on a different PC once I get back to the office?

    @Keith - The laptops you bring to the event are loaded with Windows 7 and you are given an NFR (Not-For-Resale) copy of Windows 7 that can be used to activate the Windows 7 install done at the event.  If you choose to not activate the Windows 7 install on the laptop, then you could use the NFR to install on a different PC in your organization instead and the one on your laptop would ultimately expire.
