Announcing Expression Encoder 4 Pro availability for redistribution!

image Here is some exciting news for all of you that are video designers, editors or producers. Today Microsoft announced a plan to license its Expression Encoder 4 Pro product not only for development, but for the first time, also for redistribution!

What this means is, due to popular demand, partners will now be able to directly license Expression Encoder from Microsoft and distribute it as an add-on or integrated solution. Prior to this announcement, Expression Encoder has been available through retail and volume licensing, but it has not been available for redistribution. Direct licensing is expected to be available later this year.

With Expression Encoder Pro, you can:

  • Encode high quality videos for delivery to devices and the web
  • Create Silverlight video experiences with customizable templates
  • Capture your PC’s screen actions for training and demos
  • Capture, encode and broadcast live events with IIS Smooth Streaming
  • And much, much more.

Expression Encoder 4 users can quickly and easily encode both live and pre-recorded video in a wide range of file formats. Customers and partners are already using Expression Encoder in a variety of ways, ranging from encoding live security feeds to compressing medical images, and here are just a couple of examples:

  • Digital media services provider iStreamPlanet “developed a custom capture and encoding solution with Expression Encoder 4 that streams security video using IIS Smooth Streaming in multi-bitrate format to a variety of viewing platforms,” said Mio Babic, President and CEO.
  • Systems integrator and IT consulting company INSYS used Expression Encoder 4 Pro for the Heineken Open’er Festival, one of the biggest music events in Poland. “First we thought about using Expression Encoder 4 as a backup tool for a hardware encoder, but it dealt well enough with the job to be the primary encoder. It was very convenient to switch between multiple source streams and short pre-recorded videos. We managed to encode and deliver streams with 4 quality levels up to 720p using a 12 core machine. Thanks to its flexibility it became our main tool for occasional events that we’re doing live streaming at,” said Krzysztof Bartkowki, owner of INSYS.
