OpenText Takes Solution to the Cloud

Just a couple of years many were nervous about talking too much about the cloud and its great possibilities for the utilities. But times have changed and when we read announcements like one out recently from OpenText it’s nice to see that our vision for enabling our partners to bring their great products to the cloud is coming to fruition. Our industry view is that the cloud is a theoretical exercise until there are real business applications available from which to choose.opentext2

In early April, OpenText announced it will make its OpenText Shared Services Center available as a cloud-based beta version early this summer. The OpenText Shared Services Center solution (formerly known as e-ServiceDesk), delivers more than  70 business and IT process-enabled shared services applications in the Cloud, and the beta version will expand on their on-premise solution using Microsoft Windows Azure Cloud.  OpenText will have its .NET based Shared Service Center solution available on the cloud, on-premise or in hybrid configurations.

Their April announcement follows through on their January expansion of a collaboration agreement with us. Indeed, OpenText was among the first enterprise software vendors to add support for Windows Azure with records management and archiving solutions over three years ago.
