WoW and Smiles.

No smiles

Seth Godin put up a post about how the execs at corp, weren't smiling in the WoW Campaign photo (pictured top) that made the Times.

 I get his point, but to be honest, it looks like they were listening to someone speak. If you saw me constantly smiling while someone was talking about technology, you'd probably think I was high or on some substance that's probably illegal.

I  actually caught myself at the launch saying "Really? WoW!" on a lot of things (especially the Sanity Music, Bigpond Movies onDemand, Kodak announcements). So I get the campaign heh.

I'm not sure I agree with Seth this time round is all I am saying.

    You're not understanding Seth Godin's point. The photo simply represents a common disconnect in marketing that we see a lot these days. From the Wow starts now to seeing trucks parked on top of mountains. It's obvious that the photo was taken while the people were concentrating on something, so of course they're not smiling. What's funny is how the photo sums up the marketing disconnect.
