Adobe Apollo Leaks

Ouch! is all I can say. Apparently an upcoming book from O`Reilly titled Apollo for Adobe Flex Developers Pocket Guide has been leaked (Ryan's like the super sleuth, nothing gets passed him)  on the Internet via torrents (which are evil and piracy is bad mmkkkk kiddies).

Sadly though, I do know of a certain culprit out there that raids these torrents and despite my mission to convert him to the goodside, I did ask what his thoughts were around the supposed leaked book.

His response:

"F@$k!! HTML Control + File I/O and that's it! I feel cheated"...

Other responses from one another friend of mine:

" ..conspiriosy theory: adobe leak their own book to fuel the hype, pay O'Reilly for the lost sales/do a deal.. "

Point here is that now that it's leaked, the PR machine is going to have to go into over-drive to keep control of the message.

Someone in Adobe legal right now just had a bad day maybe?

    >"F@$k!! HTML Control + File I/O and that's it! I feel cheated"... So, someone downloads a pirated book, for software that hasnt even been released as alpha, and they feel cheated? Anyways, the book is released under a creative commons licensed, and will be avaliable for download from labs once the alpha is up there. I suggest that you tell your friend to read the preface and first chapter. Those chapters discuss what is in apollo alpha 1 but is not covered in the book, as well as which features will be in Apollo 1.0, but which are not yet implimented in alpha 1. Btw, for someone who just took as job with Microsoft, you sure spend a lot of time talking about Adobe. mike chambers mesh@adobe.com

Evening Mesh :) I quote what I get told and I'm sure you're right about the feature set, but the point is there is a lot of hype around it so you guys better deliver on the goods or there is going to be alot of annoyed developers. Re: Adobe, yeah I do, I guess that's part of my job, talk about topics around the web and user experience and help developers make an - informed - opinion. Like it or lump it Mesh, that's the way I roll.

SCBarns - Feel free to publish this or not - I'm really just sending this for your eyes, but am happy to stand by what I say in public.

"that's the way I roll"? You mean "that's the way I troll", don't you? I also see you that you deleted my previously published comment from your previous troll post. Only thing worse than a troll is a cowardly troll. Scott, you are within your rights to write about Adobe as much as you like. But it would be nice if you could occaassionally discuss the value proposition of your company's products instead of just going negative all the time.
