January 2008 MSDN Magazine now online
The January 2008 issue of MSDN Magazine is now available online at https://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/08/01/default.aspx.
The January issue features a focus on Web-related development technologies.
Mike Volodarsky starts us out with a look at the IIS 7.0 ASP.NET Integrated pipeline.
Guy Smith-Ferrier explains the localization and globalization models for ASP.NET AJAX applications.
And Justin Smith explains some of the new Web-centric features of Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) in the .NET Framework 3.5.
Here's the rest of the lineup:
• SQL Server: Uncover Hidden Data to Optimize Application Performance, by Ian Stirk
• Look it Up: Managing Directory Security Principals in the .NET Framework 3.5, by Joe Kaplan and Ethan Wilansky
In the columns we take a look at marshaling between managed and unmanaged code, and explore accessing data from mobile applications. Jeff Prosise implements drag and drop with ASP.NET AJAX, Charles Petzold shows how to create templates for customized common controls, and Fritz Onion encapulates Silverlight with ASP.NET controls.
There's much more in the issue, and I'll be blogging about these and other articles throughout the month.
As usual, the issue is available online in 11 languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.
Enjoy!
