Ten years and counting

It’s hard to believe that I’ve been working for Microsoft for that long already – time flies.  During that time, I’ve had a few different jobs and titles: consultant, systems design engineer, software development engineer, program manager, product marketing manager.  I’ve visited customers all over the world (well, at least on five of the seven continents), given more presentations than I can possibly count (although I have quite the collection of lanyards and nametags, so that gives me a good idea), read an unimaginable amount of e-mail (and generated quite a bit myself), and written a variety of blog postings like this one.

But through that entire time, my focus has been consistent: helping enterprises deploy Windows.  Here’s to the next 10 years.

For those of you who haven’t yet deployed Windows 8.1, let’s talk :-)

Happy anniversary! You've always been leading the Windows deployment front, and I'm sure you will continue to.

Mike it is interesting to look back at your first blog post on BDD 2007, SMS OSD feature pack, vista, etc. Wow we have gone through a lot. The current SCCM 2012 R2 and deploying Windows 8.1 is fantastic. Funny to read the guys blog post about Windows 8.1 not going to happen... Here's to Windows 9, SCCM vNext and all the fun times ahead.

I hope the next ten years will be as interesting as the first ten were. Keep up the good work. Now, let's talk about why I should deploy an OS which isn't even close to as good as the previous one (Win 7). Windows 8.x is a total mess. What were you guys thinking? We will stick to 7 as long as there's no better Windows version. If Windows 9 isn't a whole lot better than Windows 8.x then it's the end of the road for Windows.

Thanks for everything you do Mike. Always enjoy your talks at TechEd and love it when I get a response from you on the MDT TechNet Forums (because I know I'm about to learn something very useful). You're a true asset to your company and I hope they appreciate that fact.

Thanks for all of your hard work and many excellent talks throughout the years. I know I've learned much of what I know about troubleshooting ConfigMan and MDT from your videos and sessions at TechEd and MMS.

Like you I've seen a lot over the years and I can appreciate your dedication as I know first hand what that requires of a person. I've just now (aug2015) ordered your book:
    Deployment Fundamentals - Volume 3
    ISBN-13:9789197939027
    Publisher: Deployment Artist
after picking up the coodos Rhonda Layfields TechEd2011 (aus) when she saw you two in the audience. I just can't wait for the book and hopefully by Jan2016 I will be ready to get and apply volume 4

    Keep up the great work!
