IT innovation has moved to the forefront of CIOs' minds, a recent survey finds. But CIOs still need to close gaps with their business units to ensure that their IT innovations truly pay off.

The votes are in, the tally has been taken and we have a winner in the race to capture CIO mindshare among the most aggressive IT implementers in the global economy. In a recent survey of U.S. IT executives at 500 companies—who are collectively responsible for approximately $150 billion in annual IT spending—innovation looms as one of their largest issues for 2007. The survey, conducted by InformationWeek magazine's research group in mid-2006, surveyed CIOs at the most innovative IT organizations in the United States. Full story.
