Dynamic Desktops to support High Performance Workplaces
What is a high-performance workplace and how do we define it. Here is the Gartner definition;
“A high-performance workplace focuses on increasing people's influence on a business, as well as the impact of processes, methods, physical environment, and technology and tools that enhance their work. To be successful, balance investment, business goals and value”
There are several areas to think about for achieving a high-perfroamnce workplace. These are people, process, physical envirorenment, technology etc. The bottom line is that business needs more innovative employees which can deal with all kinds of challenges and perform much faster and smarter than they are doing today.
On the other hand, IT develops policies and structure to be able to manage the IT assets better and put in control. But if this model is not flexible enough it can easily become a blocker for innovation, collaboration and creativity. This is a traditional case which my customers face and creates conbetween business nits and IT. The key is to combine compliance and flexibility and create a controlled high performace workplace.
Lets see how a virtualized desktop model can support a high performance workplace in a controlled manner. I mean wih the necessary lockdown, compliance and governance in place.
Task oriented virtual desktops provision on-the fly applications and feature sets which support the ever-changing needs and tasks of the employees. Since employees need to adapt and react continously to the dynamic evironment there is a need of fast desktop creation and consumption. The desktop lifecycle is covered additinally by desktop security, monitoring and performance services. Desktop hardware is abstracted and fully virtualized. Data is in the cloud and accessible from anywhere.
On the left side it can be seen that dynamic infrastructures needs a more agile security risk assessment and compliance model to keep up with the new security exposures and risks of this complex environment.
