YCAB & YouthSpark Change an Indonesian Youth's Life
The loss of a father and main breadwinner of the family meant that Jumali, then seven years old, had to leave school due to financial difficulties. Despite being struck from the class list, he was determined to continue learning and attended class every day without fail. His perseverance paid off when his principal gave him a scholarship to complete his primary school education. Following that, his mother’s health took a turn for the worse, and Jumali was forced to stop his studies for two years in order to pay off the medical expenses. Upon completing junior high school in 2012, Jumali left his hometown in Lampung for Jakarta in search of a job. Meeting the security guard while working on the renovation of YCAB’s office was the turning point in his life. Through the security guard, he found out more about Rumah Belajar YCAB. The video illustrates how the life of this inspiring twenty year old youth was totally changed after entering Rumah Belajar YCAB and participating in Microsoft YouthSpark’s programmes. What is extremely heartwarming is the fact that he not only aspires to further his studies, but he also hopes to return to his hometown after he is successful to empower his people.
