Well, I wasn't expecting that!

Yesterday, I decided to add a more personal angle to my blog by posting about my kids. Well, I got a ton of email saying, "keep it technical."

OK! I listened. It's tech from now on :)

Hey, it's your blog; blog about whatever you want.

It's your blog! It's not up to anyone else whether you stick to technical or not. Personally I liked the story about your kids. But my opinion doesn't matter any more than anyone else's does. Post about whatever you want to post about, and ignore the whiners.

What a shame . . someday those critics will have kids of their own, and learn there's more to life than "technology" -- besides it's YOUR blog (^_^) Blake Handler Microsoft MVP & Dad

Hey man, it's your blog, your time. If you want to blog about the rocks in the bottom of your fishbowl, by all means do it. Tags, smags. I personally love a good change of pace blog post.

I had no idea people were that mean over an official MS blog. I'm an avid Linux user and even I don't post and/or send rude comments to you.

I have found your non technical blogs just as entertaining as the technical ones.  Just as long as you do have technical ones, I won't have a hard time justifying this blog for business.  (I had to submit a request to get it unblocked by the content engine)

I loved the story about your kids.  I usually enjoy the unexpected glimpses of blogger humanity that come by.  I also know how to use the delete key in my RSS aggregator. If you choose to use categories to differentiate your materials (with alternate feeds), I'll subscribe to the "all posts" version.

I agree with those above--it's your blog man.  Yes, it's on the MSDN domain, but I haven't come across a single blog that doesn't have a personal aspect to it.  That's what makes the blog so powerful--I don't read them for pure technical content (I can read MSDN for that), I read it for insight into how people implement, use, and live with technology. ^^/ Anyway, the story was great!  Thanks for all you post--including the family stories!

One more vote for. Nobody complains about non-technical posts on Raymond Chen's or Larry Osterman's (witness today's post:  http://blogs.msdn.com/larryosterman/archive/2007/06/04/tonight-s-the-night.aspx)

Please don't stop posting about things that aren't 100% technical. They really help spice up your blog. And, as others have said, it's your blog.

Gee, if only there was some way for your blog guests to skip posts they're not interested instead of being forced to read whatever you choose to post.  Clearly, we need the FCC to look into this issue ASAP!
