Podcast software and kit - what do I need?

Our team are toying with the idea of doing a podcast about 'stuff' on 'stuff' that interests developers in the UK.

I've done a little searching around but haven't really found the definitive list of hardware/software to start a podcast. We want to do this with a certain amount of professionalism (can't really say with me as the hostess with the most-ess that will be achievable) and should really be adopting the best practices that other podcasters adopt (assuming they run on Windows ;-)).
