'Microsoft,Robot' - Robotics Studio
I think we are a while away from the futuristic US Robotics controlled world depicted in the movie I,Robot but this great article on the IEEE demonstrates what Microsoft is doing in the Robotics world - Robotics Incorporated
The article details the small, but growing team, of talented engineers and programmers working away on building out our robotics platform and tools. The article is quite long but very inspiring in that it seems to have a real start-up feel to it and as an employee makes me feel good that we are investing in such areas:
"The resulting team is as eclectic as the special-forces crew in the World War II movie The Dirty Dozen. Just as Lee Marvin's Major Reisman had a mix of sharpshooters, demolition experts, and so on, Trower needed specialists for everything from operating-system-level programming to user interfaces"
We will be focusing on Robotics more in the coming year through student partner events and a "Microsoft on Campus" tour. I look forward to the evangelists on our team building a robot that can fetch the tea!
