Dotcom boom in the UK

According to an article in the Guardian the vast majority of venture capital money coming into Europe is being invested in British firms - some 31% or 558m Euros!!

This matters a big deal and gives UK students the opportunity to leave university (or college) and start their own business in the new world of the Internet (think Software+Services). How can I help? Simple....keep an eye on www.imaginecup.co.uk over the coming weeks to see how we can support!

A couple of big names up there on the list:

"

Dopplr
Social networking for frequent travellers.

Extate
Intelligent search of property websites.

Garlik
Online identity management.

MindCandy
Alternate reality gaming.

Moo
Print on demand: cards, notes and stickers.

OnOneMap
Map-based property search.

Touch Local
Local directory services.

Trusted Places
User-created local information.

Zopa
Peer to peer lending.

Zubka
Recruitment 2.0"

A couple of favourites up there for me include Dopplr (the UK team in the Imagine Cup 2005 Japan who I coached developed an idea similar to this), Moo (Is just cool!) and Zopa.
