We are trying to decide if MCMS is the right tool for our projects. One thing that I do not like about it is that developers have to install MCMS on their workstations. Is that right?
I appreciate your post about MCMS, it is great help for us! - Anonymous

Yes, that is correct. Developers must install the developer edition of MCMS 2002 on their workstations. A good resource you may want to check out is the Developers guide located at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/dnmscms02/html/MCMSMDSG.asp - Anonymous

Luke,
I'm not sure if you can answer that question, but i will try :)
Probably 2 years ago I saw an article about how Microsoft built their Microsoft site. Last year MS re-built it and I would really interested to read about its structure, how it works and so on. Does it use MSCM? or MS developed something else just for MS site? - Anonymous

Yes there are certain parts of the microsoft.com that use MCMS, but not everything. They are working on moving towards one solution. - Anonymous

"The redesign of the site and the migration to an XML-based publishing platform also led to the overhaul of our content management system. We deployed Microsoft® Content Management Server 2002 (MCMS 2002) as the single back-end repository for content published by TechNet Online, the TechNet subscription service, and ultimately all of Microsoft.com."
