Lab Management General Distribution Release is now available

We are happy to announce that the General Distribution Release for lab management in Visual Studio 2010 is now available. A couple of weeks back, we announced the general availability of lab management, licensing changes, and what’s changed since RC. You can review these here.

The final bits are now available for download to licensed customers. Here are the links to get the update that upgrades lab management functionality: The patch you need to install and the KB article that describes the update.

You need to install this patch on the following machines:

  1. Team Foundation Server
  2. Client machine (i.e. the machine running Microsoft Test Manager)
  3. Visual Studio Test Controller
  4. Build machines
  5. All the virtual machines and templates that are part of your environments. The patch has updates for the agents installed on the virtual machines.

If you haven’t configured lab management already, this page has useful links to help you get started and setup lab management.

This is a great moment for the product team. We can’t wait to see you use lab management and reap the benefits. Please provide us your valuable feedback.

Hello Fatih Can you please eloborate on what you meant by exception, was there an error, if so what was it?. We have seen an issue, where after installing the patch, it prompts for reboot, and after reboot the collection remains in servicing. In this case, you can open a cmd prompt and do the following

  • cd "%ProgramFiles%Microsoft TeamFoundation Server 2010tools"
  • TfsConfig updates /reapply Let me know if this fixes your issue. Thanks -Vijay
