Getting ready for Beta1 and VSTT 2008 Quick Reference Guide Released

As we continue to prepare for Beta 1, we continue to talk with customers, demo the product and get feedback. The feedback is usually:”Hey, this is great stuff, when can I get it? Can I start work with Beta1 for my new project that is just starting?” – well, the answer is that we will have Beta1 released in about 2 months from now, but we don’t suggest that you will take a risk and start your new project on it. The reason is mostly the fact that the upgrade from Beta1 to Beta2 will not be bullet-proof as we would like it to be when we tell you to start working on your project.

But you should try to work on Lab for a part of your team, enjoy the productivity gains that you can get, learn about the product and get us feedback so we can improve it for Beta2.

So what can you do while you are waiting for the Beta? get the hardware ready. You should have at least one host that is Hyper-V compatible (required Hyper threading processor), preferably with good amount of memory – 4-8GB, so you will be able to run a few VMs on it. Get it allocated, so when the Beta is released you can start right away.
