On product code names...

Whitehorse and Yukon are product code names for the graphical designer in Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005. Today I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Whitehorse, Yukon is a real city.

Stephen Downes posted some great photos from a recent trip. I was rather surprised when I saw the photos - I expected to see shots of Stephen in front of an audience discussing the capabilties of SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2005.  Sometimes real life has a way of slapping you in the face - this was a rather pleasant (if off-topic) slap. (BTW - Stephen has some interesting opinions on e-Learning. His mailing list on e-Learning is a great read.

    Brian,

I was aware of that, but these are all "one off" product code names. Whitehorse, Yukon combines (imho) two of our most exciting products - perhaps I should speak to the marketing guys about scheduling an airlift there. It certainly looks like a beautiful place.

I have friends in Whitehorse (Still wonder why<grin>) Don't go in the winter if you're used to weather like Seattle :) I hear summer is quite nice, albeit short. Northern lights are cool in Fall or Spring sometimes. Great hiking, and some good fishing from what I understand.

I've got to admit, I like the little Canadian content that someone down there is putting into the code names. Vancouver and area is quite the area for tech.
