Intel's SOE (Services Oriented Enterprise)

SOE is the latest ingredient in the acronym soup sometimes known as SOA. The interesting twist here is that SOE is hardware, not software. The goal of SOE is to "virtualize and compartmentalize two-way and larger servers in a way that multiple software operating systems and applications can run independently and all be managed from a central point". While this sounds suspiciously like a Grid initiative, some of the promised features are quite exciting (such as being able to access resources on systems that have been shut down or are locked up).

Excitement sometimes leads to security risks – how can one secure a system if its resources are still accessible even after it has been turned off? The mind boggles.
