OMG blackout shades
How did I live without them? I'm in the fetal position and and my room is pretty much pitch black and I forgot how I missed sleeping in a dark room. Is it possible they make the room quieter too? No? It just never gets all-the-way dark outside here. We'll have to see if I actually have more productive/consistent sleep. Call me an optimist. It's 4 PM and I want to go to bed.
I bet people that don't have them think "there's nothing wrong. Why would I need them?" and I say it's like discovering ice cream as a 30 year-old. They are just that good.

We've just moved into our new condo, and haven't had a chance to cover the window, and it's difficult ot get a good nights sleep. Hopefully today we can unpack our shades and get them up. And you're right. It never gets dark here, and it gets dark much later than we're used to (it would be dark by 9 PM in Virginia by now) and gets light way, way too early for my taste as well. :)Anonymous

Yeah, it's better to address it than hope that you will get used to it.Anonymous

AHA!! So it's not my imagination. I just moved back to the PacNW after living a few years in the Central time zone (where it seems to get to be bedtime way early). Anyhow, I was sitting on my porch one night around 9:30 pm saying "why do I still see the clouds in the sky? Why isn't it pitch black? Like it was back in the Central time zone?".... and being awoken in the morning by the sun at 5:30-6am. Hmmmmm... it's like a mini-Alaska here I guess... never totally gets dark. But come Winter, I think it's dark most of the day...if I remember correctly. LOL. By the way I found your Blog while searching for "Blackout Shades" online in Google! First thing I checked was where you live, and I thought "aha!"Anonymous

Yeah, Shar, winter is coming. We'll get our darkness soon enough. I'm going to use it as an excuse to wear cute scarves and hats and use my new umbrellas (http://www.umbrellasociety.com)
