SIP Trunks and Office COmmunications Server 2007 R2
Gotta love how things happen. In the last 2 weeks, I’ve been asked by three people if Office Communications Server 2007 R2 supports SIP Trunks. I know we do, but since I’ve never ever configured it myself, I have no clue how to actually do it. I have usually pointed people to the Microsoft Unified Communications Open Interoperability Program page for information on supported gateways and providers.
This morning, a local Phoenix MVP (Brian Ricks: email: brianr@bricomp.com; blog) sent me a link to his TechNet Article that outlines the steps necessary to configure OCS 2007 R2 using a SIP Trunk from Broadvox. I’m thinking “Woh, what coincidence!!!!” I now have a great document to point people to for more specific information that will demystify the process of configuring SIP Trunking with OCS 2007 R2.
By now, you’re thinking, Harold, give us the stinking link already!!!! Well … Okay. :-)

Thanks Harold! This has been a total mystery for a while now. Last time I was poking around (granted, about a year ago) most providers were requiring Session Border Controllers. This is quite a bit simpler. Regards, JoelAnonymous
