Additional West Region IT Camp added in Salt Lake City (South Jordan) on June 21st, 2012 at Neumont University

I was able to work with Craig Berntson (MVP in Salt Lake City) to add an additional IT Camp to the West Region Schedule.  The additional event will take place on June 21st at Neumont University located at

The format of the event is the same as the other IT Camps taking place in May and June in the West Region.  I am including the agenda below to be safe.  Also, to participate in the Hands-On Lab in the afternoon, you will need to bring a computer that meets the following minimum requirements:

  • x64 compatible processor with Intel VT or AMD-V technology

  • Operating System is Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 8

  • 4GB RAM (8 GB preferred)

  • At least 40GB of free disk space (75 GB preferred)

  • No Drive encryption (such as Bit Locker) enabled

8:30 AM – 9:30 AM: The State of Microsoft Virtualization today with a look towards the future

As virtualization continues to grow; Microsoft is continuing to grow our capabilities in this space. In this session, we will look at the current state of Hyper-V capabilities while also peering into the horizon with some key enhancements in Hyper-V in Windows Server 2012 Beta. We will also share what you need to do today in Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 to prepare for the future.

2:30 PM – 4:00 PM: Hands-On-Lab: Configure Hyper-V settings in Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and Windows Server 2012 Beta

Virtualization is core building block in cloud computing today. We will walk you through configuring Hyper-V settings in Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 which then translates into configuration of Hyper-V in Windows Server 2012 Beta. You will see that the skill sets for today translates very well into the future. The second portion of the hands on session will entail working with the Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Hyper-V Virtual Machines provided by Double-Take to get experience with their solution and how it integrates with System Center 2012.
