New Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server Content - Planning and Architecture

We have updated the Protecting your Exchange servers section of the Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server (FPE) Planning and Architecture documentation to give you more information about how the product can protect your organization from messaging threats. Specifically, the Understanding spam processing section discusses how the product’s spam filtering layers (connection filtering, SMTP filtering, and content filtering) work, including more “under the hood” details about how specific types of spam are detected and removed.

We hope you find this new content to be helpful as you configure FPE to protect your Exchange messaging environment.

In the Exchange Server documentation, they go into some detail regarding Exchange Server 2010 multi-tenancy. See Understanding Exchange 2010 Multi Tenancy (technet.microsoft.com/.../ff923251.aspx). Regarding Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server specifically, you can manage multiple instances of FPE 2010 from a single console, using Forefront Protection Server Management Console (technet.microsoft.com/.../gg507745.aspx), but it does not have built-in support for multi-tenancy. Administrators in FPSMC can see all managed servers within the console.
