Smart Client Baseline Architecture Toolkit - Workshop

The Client Team at patterns & practices will be hosting a 2.5 days, instructor-led training event for the upcoming Smart Client Baseline Architecture Toolkit based on:

- Composite UI Application Block (CAB)

- Enterprise Library 2.0 and the

- Guidance Automation Toolkit.

When? Monday, March 13th – Wednesday, March 15th (half day)

Where? Microsoft Corporation, Redmond, Washington, USA.

Who should attend? Anyone interested in jumpstarting their adoption of the CAB and Enterprise Library as the underlying architecture for rich UIs; and in using automation to streamline the development of applications of this type.

What will you cover? We want this session to be useful to you, as well as insightful for us as we move forward with the project. We want to learn what would make our offering even more compelling. We strongly encourage you to bring your own project requirements, maybe a small proof of concept to work on. The detailed agenda is still under construction, but on a high level we plan to cover in depth the emerging design patterns that we found as we use CAB and Enterprise Library to build Smart Clients. Another key aspect of the session is guidance automation. This means leveraging GAT packages to automate common tasks in Visual Studio, generate code, and increase the developer productivity promoting good practices. We expect to deliver an intensive, hands-on-lab event with the chance to interact directly with the team that is creating this offering, as the training will be delivered by our own team members.

Are there any special requirements? Knowledge of C# or Visual Basic 2005 and Visual Studio .NET is highly recommended as this will be a hands-on lab. Experience in building rich UIs or enterprise business solutions is also a plus. We suggest you should bring a detailed scenario with you or a small “proof of concept” to build here during the event.

How much does it cost? There is no cost for attending the training event. However, you will need to take care of your own travel and accommodation expenses. Please don’t book your flights or hotels until you receive confirmation of your registration.

May you invite other members of your teams? Of course, please ask them to fill the form indicated in the link below or let me know in your registration e-mail how many you expect to come, including e-mail addresses so I can send notifications and instructions to everybody.

May you invite other colleagues or customers? Same as above.

How to register? Please use this form to register. If for some reason that doesn’t work, send me an e-mail confirming your participation. I’ll send back a confirmation e-mail with additional information such as hotel suggestions, driving directions, and training requirements as soon as I can.

If you have additional questions about the event, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Is this going to be held anywhere the East Coast (Charlotte maybe?).

Wouldn't it be great to have a vacation from Seattle after the long dreary winter? :)

This event is in Redmond. We don;t have any immediate plans to replicate it on the East Coast yet. With regards to the weather, what do you mean? rain? what rain? :-)

    Hi,

will this event (since it's free) be webcasted on the msdn-site?

The Smart Client is good but to find the Smart Client Baseline Architecture Toolkit was real gift. Great, great stuff!

As a manager of the desktop dev team for the next generation of Turbo Tax, I am extremely interested in figuring out if this technology will work for us.
