"Letter from the Editor" on the MSDN Developer Centers

Hey folks, I'm not sure if you've seen this section of the new MSDN Developer Centers (msdn.microsoft.com/vbasic/letters). It is a place where the appropriate MSDN Content Strategist (me for VB, Kent for ASP.NET, etc...) gives a little blurb about the content on the site for that period of time... it is a bit bloggish in nature in fact, but with a bit more editorial polish...

Anyway, I was looking at the fairly dismal page views on this part of the vbasic site and I was wondering what would make it more appealing? Is it lack of awareness? Do you need notification through a feed? Is it the content?

    A few things(And I'm trying to pretend like I know what I'm talking about):
    1) I'm not sure it's that interesting to begin with, Perhaps you need to make it more like the editor's note in MSDN magazine - show a more personal perspective of some of the things that affect us all, not just a rehash of what the current columns contain

    2)the link is not at the top of the page. You need to scroll down to view it

    Duncan, to be pretty blunt :-) I'm not really sure how many visits you can expect to get when, 1), the content on each of those pages hasn't been updated for a month and 2) the content that's there is not really what I'd term "compelling reading" anyway?

    I've been to the WebForms letter page several times in the past month but had kind of thought that it was probably just going to be fairly static content.

    If you plan on keeping those letters then I kind of like Roy's idea of making them a bit more current and a bit more personal.

    To be honest, I never knew the "Letters From The Editor" section even existed. It is off to the side and never really got my attention.

    I also just checked some of the content on msdn.microsoft.com/vbasic/ and it is pretty interesting. I guess I'm used to using either the MSDN homepage, or some of the community sites (GDN,ASP.net, WindowsForms.net, 123aspx, etc) for new articles. The content on the dev centers is good, I guess I'll just have to get used to going there more.

    I do agree, however, that the Letters from the Editor section is a good idea. It's always interesting to get a look at what happens in MS - that's why I've always liked microsoft.com/backstage/. I'd love to see a video tour of the MS campus, it would be really interesting.
