Windows 7

taskbarRecently installed Windows 7 and really liking it so far…  Not a single issue with it over the last 2 weeks which is a bonus to start with.  Here are a few bits that I like…

I’ve had a widescreen laptop for a long time and every once in a while I’ll drag the taskbar to the side of the screen and then 20 minutes later stick it back at the bottom because it didn’t really look right somehow and it slowed me down.  ..but with Windows 7 it's stayed for a while now.  It looks like it’s meant to be there this time.

And I like these shortcut keys...

  • Windows key and 1 or 2 etc.. – runs the first or second etc.. shortcut on the taskbar
  • Windows key and shift – shows you a quick preview of your desktop
  • Windows and home – minimises everything except the active window

And I reckon it’s significantly faster which is particularly noticeable with search and start up and shut down times…

true.  I expect we're going to see a lot more documentation as it progresses through Beta which should be relevant to you.  I wouldn't have got very excited about an OS in the past and not sure what it is about Windows 7 but it does actually feel like although nothing is drastically different it's somehow more intuitive and is better at doing what it's supposed to do.  Can't really put my finger on it...?!

That's because nothing underneath IS significantly different from vista...but the UI is much snappier.  This gives the illusion that things are more responsive even if they aren't.

Don't agree it's an illusion and I applaud the Windows 7 product group on a great product...
