Open XML Developers at TechEd
At Microsoft TechEd in Barcelona this week, two announcements were of special interest to Open XML developers:
- Office RTM -- the 2007 Microsoft Office System has been released to manufacturing.
- .NET Framework 3.0 Redistributable Package -- you can now distribute Open XML applications built on the System.IO.Packaging API to Windows users.
Combined with the availability of the final draft version of the Ecma spec, these exciting developments have boosted interest in Open XML. The schemas are locked down, so now's the time to start your Open XML projects.
By the way, if you're at TechEd and couldn't get into Peter's full session earlier today, be sure to visit room 132 at 1:30 for a whiteboard discussion Peter will be leading on Open XML interoperability and development strategies. And drop by the OpenXmlDeveloper.org booth (ND16), where we have copies of Tom Ngo's excellent whitepaper on Office Open XML, and a few of the OpenXmlDeveloper t-shirts left. See you there!
