Skype for Mac OS X - and it's not just an ugly port!
Skype, a peer-to-peer telephony application (VoIP) that's been getting a lot of attention on Windows now has a beta version available for Mac OS X (download here). I have to admit, I was expecting the worst. I was imagining a horrible installer and UI directly ported from Windows with some sort of compatibility wrapper. However, I was impressed to see a nice drag and drop installer and a Cocoa application with a pretty nice UI that doesn't just clone the Windows version. They actually spent time designing nice icons and everything. I can't seem to actually get it to connect from work, so I can't try out the voice part of it, but it's nice to see a company putting some time into the Mac version of their product.
