Why the obsession with removing the plastic from new things?
I seem to have been upsetting quite a few people in the office lately. I took delivery of my new Toschiba M400 in January and to this day have not removed the protective plastic cover from the lid. Then last week, I got my new E600 phone (loving it by the way) and hadn't removed the plastic cover from the screen.
Now when the fellas in my team saw this, it was met with as much wincing as when someone claws their finger nails down a blackboard and their faces all said "It's just plain wrong".
I am disappointed with myself as I succumbed and removed the plastic from my phone screen but I am determiend to stay resolute with the PC.
Gareth offered to pay £50 to charity to yank it off so any other offers? And why is it so annoyign to other people?????

I have a friend that does that with everything that he buys, you can't believe how tempting it is just to peel it off and watch his face.... AlAnonymous

I'm glad to know there are others out there like me. I had to show my wife this since she pokes fun at me on occasion about the same thing. It's nice to know that after a few months if the plastic looks terrible, you can peel it off and have a nice looking laptop again, right? That's what I tell myself, even if I never take the plastic off.Anonymous

Normally I'm in the remove them straight away category - I get an inexplicable pleasure from doing it thats part of the whole "new toy" experience. And yes I will confess to having urges to rip them off other peoples stuff as well. The only exception to this was when I had my Nokia N80 and I left it on as it made sense to protect the screen.Anonymous

I hate the little screen covers on things like mobile phones and ipods and have to remove them ASAP. But on the other end of life, I actually went out of my way to find the OEM sticker for Windows when i was making my media center so it could take pride of place on the front. The missus thinks its all very strange...Anonymous
