Hello everyone

After a brief amount of time blogging over at blogs.gotdotnet.com, we have been moved over here because that site has closed. This is a hello message to those of you who are reading this blog for the first time, and a welcome to the new place for those who read my posts over at GDN. What do I discuss here? Well, a number of things, but mostly the Visual Studio .NET programmability model, meaning Add-ins, Macros, VSIP packages, etc. I will also occasionally write about something that interests me, such as cool websites, technology, cars, or astronomy topics.

Why do I talk about VS? I am the developer and co-designer of the automation model for VS at Microsoft. I have given automation talks at PDC for the past few years (I did not give one this year because it was canceled at the last moment, but I was there meeting with people) and at TechEd 2003. I am a co-author of the book “Inside Visual Studio .NET 2003”, which discusses topics such as using the automation model for VS, creating setup projects within VS, and general use of the tool. I have been at Microsoft for over 7 years now, where I have worked on the automation model VB 6, Developer Studio 4.2, 5, 6, Visual Studio 6, 7, 7.1, and now 8.0. I try to post to a blog at least once a week, but usually a couple times a week. I must admit, I am really bad at responding to comments left on my blog, but I do try to read them all.
