Email an MDM enrollment link for Windows 10 users

To MDM enrol a Windows 10 device, the end user must manually run the enrollment wizard. To do this, your users must go

Settings > Accounts > Access Work or School > Enroll only in device management

The alternative option since Windows 1607 is to use a URI.

You can email the following URL as a hyperlink to your end users, and they’ll be taken directly to the enrollment wizard:

ms-device-enrollment:?mode=mdm

For example, I’ve created a hyperlink that you can click and test

Click here to launch Intune enrollment!

You’ll be prompted to enter your work or school credentials, and the MDM enrollment will be initiated.

This should make the enrollment process much easier for your end users!

Until next time.

Good article. I notice on our Win 10 1607 machines, "enroll only in device management" is missing, but only when configuration manager (SCCM) agent is installed. I assume this is by design, is URI method supported for third party MDM's (Meraki in our case) while configuration manager agents are installed? Thanks in advance.

Hi @Josh H. Yeah, I think the MDM enrollment is blocked if ConfigMgr is managing the device. I can't talk to Mereki MDM, but we dont support Intune MDM + ConfigMgr management on the same device. Matt

Hi Matt,Following the 1703 release, there is supposed to be parameters to add to that URL that can autopopulate the fields in the enrollment process.I can't make them work though, have you made some tests ?

Hey Tristan. What's the usecase and the params your using? I wasn't aware there was new params but yes, they're here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/client-management/mdm/mdm-enrollment-of-windows-devices. The Accesstoken, Deviceidentifier, Tenantidentifier & Ownership params are only applicable if the MDM service supports them. I'm not sure Intune does. The Servername isn't applicable for Intune, so I'm assuming you're just doing Username? Matt
