XP SP2 RC1

I installed XP SP 2 RC1 on my primary laptop about a month ago now. WOW! ... I was initially hesitant ... as i really didn't need another rebuild due to something it might do to my machine. This is the best SP i have even seen... i have not had a single problem ... i connect to many wireless networks as well as hard wired ones and the updates to the Windows Firewall is simply amazing. IE changes work really well ... the security center in control panel makes it easy to see what you have configured etc...

I think the best parts of this SP are the changes to IE. There are now much more meaningful dialogs when you download stuff ... and when you run stuff.

I know what i am opening myself up to when i download things and run stuff from the net ... but the majority of people in this world don't have a clue ... and i think these changes will make a huge difference for the average user in terms of keeping their computer free of viruses etc...

I am truly amazed at the quality of RC1 and would highly recommend it to anyone.

How would you uninstall the RC1 when the real one becomes available?

XP SP2 RC1 is uninstallable via the Add/Remove programs menu ... if you upgraded from SP1

I only wish it would be easier to enable list/ranges of ports in the firewall and even enable only specific ports for a specific app. The current ways (single port only and all ports to an app) is just not going to cut it if security is a priority.

Well .. I wish Sp2 was undo-able .. I really don't wanna spend 2 days re-doing my entire machine .. yeah yeah I know I'm a developer, but I got projects to fulfill, and bills to pay, and sleep to catch .. !! Ok you can take sleep to catch out of the list. !!

I have RC1 installed and for the most part I've been most impressed. I'd like to upgrade to RC2 now but cannot locate the uninstall in my Add/Remove Programs menu. I cannot instal RC2 without first removing RC1.

I've also not been able to get IIS working. I've tried opening Port 80 on all adapters and on the local area connection, but it still won't work. I have several dev web sites (in ASP.NET) which used to work without problems but now fail to even start. What am I doing wrong?

How do I get RC1 off - or do I have to rebuild my machine?

I agree, where is the ability to specify port ranges? single ports are just useless. Microsoft needs to get with the program.
