Tech Ed New Zealand and Windows SharePoint Services

For all the kiwis out there ... if you dont know already New Zealand TechEd 2005 is coming up on the 28th August (get registered! it will be the biggest and best TechEd yet!)

There is also an early schedule out here.

This year I am presenting on a great topic that every SharePoint Portal Server and Windows SharePoint Services developer should know all about....

"Developing Site Definitions and Templates for Windows SharePoint"

This is a great topic and I am planning on making the session 75% code and demos and 25% slides and talking.  So lots of good stuff that you can take away with you.  In the past there has not been much available from us on this ... there are some articles etc... available now but this is your chance to see this stuff hands on, get best practice advice ... and ask all the questions you have wanted to ask.

Brief list of stuff I will be looking to cover:

- Architecture of how Site Templates and Definitions work
- Site Templates vs Site Definitions
- Site Definition Internals (getting hands dirty and real world examples to take away) (file system, onet.xml, schema.xml, list templates and definitions, sharepoint aspx pages, configs and modules + much more)
- Great demos of SharePoint tools and lots of Tips and Tricks

This topic is a must for anyone who works on or wants to work on Microsoft's most rapidly growing product set: WSS and SPS.

See you there! -- there will be giveaways!
