Q9: Which are your top recommended resources and why?

A:

  1. Slashdot: a good way to keep up with the latest applied systems work (and related legal and public policy developments)
  2. The RISKS Digest: it's good to be continually reminded of broader, real-world consequences of misapplied information technology.
  3. The crypto mailing list: some noise, but a good way to stay abreast of applied cryptography developments - and some good discussion and insights.
  4. The BugTraq list. People break systems every day, and often, using old tools and techniques. This is a good place to see how people are breaking systems on a daily basis.
